Caregiver Support

Caregivers and family members are not forgotten. Accept our caregiver and bereavement support as you struggle through your loved one's illness and approach to end of life. A new diagnosis of life-threatening illness, navigating the healthcare and community support services system and all of the stress and questions that go along with this can be very overwhelming. We are happy to listen and to help in anyway we can. We may have some tips on dealing with illness, care, treatment and community support. We also have many resources that we can refer to.

Individual Caregiver Support

Support can be provided over the phone or through in-home visits by volunteers or staff.

Bereavement Support

Bereavement packages (customized with useful information in the form of handouts and/or articles appropriate to each situation) are mailed or hand-delivered to family members and/or a primary caregiver when the client dies. We have many library books on this topic that can be borrowed. Our staff can provide support in the home or by phone. We have volunteers that are trained in bereavement support that can visit the home. Support groups are held on a monthly basis. There are also many service organizations that we can refer to for additional support.

The Grief and Bereavement Support Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, 2:00-4:00 at our hopsice facility. If you are experiencing the difficulties of grief, please come and join us in a safe and confidential environment. Our group facilitator/volunteers have been trained by Bereaved families of Ontario.
